How Wages Atlas handles information when you visit the site.

Effective Date: September 1, 2026 · Last Updated: September 1, 2026

Website Operator

Wages Atlas (referred to in this policy as "this site" or "we") operates this website as a public wage and price data explorer. This site is provided without user accounts; no registration, sign-in or profile is required to read any page. The site is published for general information, and the operator is the party responsible for the content and the infrastructure described in this policy.

Information We Collect

When you visit this site, we may automatically collect a limited set of technical information, described in the Server Logs and Analytics Data sections below. We do not ask you to provide personal details, and we do not create user profiles that identify you personally. You can read every table, chart and country page without providing a name, email address or any other identifying detail.

Server Logs

Like most websites, our hosting infrastructure keeps short-lived server logs for operational and security purposes. These typically include your IP address (or a truncated form of it), browser type, referring page, the page requested and the time of the request. Logs are used to diagnose errors, detect abuse and keep the site available, and are kept only as long as needed for those purposes. They are not used to build advertising profiles or to identify returning readers.

Analytics Data

We may use privacy-respecting, aggregate analytics to understand which pages are read and how the site is used — for example page views by route and rough device class. Analytics output is reviewed in aggregate; it is not used to identify or follow individual visitors, and it is not combined with advertising profiles. If analytics tooling is enabled, it is configured to keep the collected data set as small as possible while still answering the question of which content is useful.

Cookies and Similar Technologies

Strictly necessary technical mechanisms (such as load-balancing or caching identifiers) may be set by our infrastructure. Beyond those, the site itself does not require cookies to display content: every page, table and chart renders without any cookie-dependent state.

Google AdSense and Advertising Cookies

Where advertising is enabled on this site, it is served through Google AdSense. Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on a user's prior visits to this or other websites. Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to site visitors based on their visit to this site and/or other sites on the Internet.

Users may opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings. Where required, additional disclosures and consent mechanisms apply as described below.

How Google Uses Data from Partner Sites

For visitors in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland, Google provides necessary disclosures about how data from partner sites is used, and — where legally required — obtains the user's consent to cookies and to personalised advertising before serving them. This site relies on those Google consent flows (such as Google's Consent Management Platform integration) where they apply, so visitors in those regions see and control the relevant choices before personalised advertising technologies run.

Cookie Consent and User Choices

Where a consent mechanism is presented, your choices are honoured: you can accept or reject non-essential cookies and personalised advertising, and rejecting leaves the site's data content fully usable. You can also control cookies at the browser level — blocking or deleting them — and the informational pages of this site will continue to work.

Third-Party Services

This site uses a small number of third-party services for infrastructure and, where enabled, advertising and measurement — for example our hosting provider, content delivery network and Google AdSense. Each third party processes data under its own privacy policy, linked or referenced at the point of use. We do not sell visitor information to third parties.

Data Sharing

We do not sell, rent or trade personal information. Data described in this policy may be processed by service providers strictly to operate, secure and improve the site, or shared where law requires it. Aggregate, non-identifying statistics may be published — for example, which country pages are most read.

Data Retention

Server logs are retained only as long as operationally necessary and then deleted or aggregated. Analytics data is kept in aggregate form. This site maintains no user accounts and no persistent personal profiles, so there is generally no personal data to retain beyond the technical records described above. Nothing about your visit is stored indefinitely, and no long-term history of individual readers exists.

International Data Transfers

Our infrastructure and third-party services may process data in countries other than your own, including the United States. Where personal data is transferred across borders, it is protected by appropriate safeguards such as standard contractual clauses or equivalent mechanisms used by the service provider involved. If you have questions about a specific transfer mechanism, the contact address below is the right place to ask.

Data Security

The site is served over HTTPS, and access to underlying systems is restricted to the operators who maintain it. No internet service can guarantee absolute security, but we keep the collected data set deliberately small — the less data a site holds, the less there is to protect. Operational logs are reviewed for anomalies, and suspected issues are investigated rather than ignored.

GDPR and Other Privacy Rights

Where the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) or a similar law applies to you, you have rights over your personal data, including the rights to:

  • access the personal data we hold about you;
  • rectify (correct) data that is inaccurate;
  • erase personal data ("right to be forgotten");
  • restrict processing of your data in certain circumstances;
  • data portability — receive your data in a structured, machine-readable form;
  • object to processing, including processing based on legitimate interests;
  • withdraw consent at any time, where processing is based on consent.

To exercise any of these rights, contact us using the email in the Contact Information section below. Because this site collects almost no personal data, most requests will concern technical logs, which are short-lived by design. We aim to acknowledge rights requests within a reasonable period and to the extent the law requires, and we do not charge a fee for a first, reasonable request.

Children's Privacy

This site presents economic statistics for a general audience and is not directed at children under the age of 13 (or 16 in jurisdictions with that threshold). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided personal information through the site, contact us and we will delete it.

External Links

Pages on this site link to external sources — for example, the OECD datasets our figures come from. Those sites have their own privacy practices, which we do not control. Linking to a source is done so you can verify the data yourself; it is not a statement about the destination site's data handling. This policy covers only information handled within this site.

Privacy Policy Changes

We may update this policy when the site's technologies or practices change. The "Last Updated" date at the top of this page always reflects the current version, and material changes will be reflected there. Continuing to use the site after an update means the revised policy applies to your visit.
